Ah, the Ride Home

Here we are on the trip back home. Declan has his snake (and a safari truck, but you cannot see it)and Reagan has her monkey. They zonked out and are sleeping soundly as I write.

Declan loved the frog fountain. He carried one stick or another the entire day in the park.

This cub has been on Good Morning America and many other shows recently. It's quite the celebrity in the zoo also. I was lucky enough to be ready with the camera when he stood up for a second.

This is the female gorrila at the zoo. I have a great pic of the male, but it'll have to wait to be uploaded. She waved at us a bit, but spent most of the time scratching her upper lip.

We arrived and this big fella was stalking around the enclosure. It must have been near feeding time as he was actually roaring. None of us had ever heard one do this in person.

We hit the Zoo with my folks, my brothers, and all the kids today. It was a great time and I took some nice photos. Unfortunately, my flikr account is loaded for the month, so some of the pics will have to wait to be uploaded.

Drudge is reporting there was a terror attack scare during the Pope's funeral.

Well, my laptop system I use for work has finally crapped out on me. Another few hours of work down the drain.

I was poking around and found this article about the Democrats holding up the vote for the head of the EPA because of pesticide testing on infants. My first thought was that we shouldn't be testing anything toxic on babies ever. Well, it appears my first thought is in fact, the truth. The EPA merely wants to monitor children in homes that already regularly use pesticides and see if there are any ill effects on children. The Dems were trying to paint the picture that the EPA is administering poisons directly to the kids. Talk about stretching the truth.

Well, it was beautiful today, and we took the kids to the park. Declan had a Chris Farley type of run in with a spinning merry-go-round. I'll have to teach him not to lead with his head. He cried, but I was able to talk to him and he was back at it. He really enjoyed going head first down the corkscrew slide. Lapeer has quite a few nice parks for a city its size. We stopped by the river in the park, and Declan and Reagan both wanted to hop right in. I'd have to use a gunk testing kit before I'd let them in it... We'll stick to Grandpa's pond or midnight swimming in the subdivision.

If you take a look at the new link to the right, you'll find a site to buy bracelets like the ones made popular by Lance Armstong. You can decide how much you want to donate for each bracelet, from $1 to $5 each. The site explains how 100% of your donation makes it to a fund you choose. I bought a couple and donated to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. This fund provides assistance to Marines, sailors, and their families. There are several others to choose from.

Reagan out in front of the house this afternoon. She started saying 'thank you' the other day. We were shocked when we first heard her say it. Not bad for a year and a week old.

The weather was relatively warm, but it was very windy today. We got out for a bit and went for a walk. Declan was looking sophisticated in his wind suit and new shades. I also cut a 4" diameter limb off my tree in the front yard with a drywall saw. I broke the saw. No photos were taken...
