The girls headed to Kentucky for the weekend to visit friends and left Gary and I to fend for ourselves with the kids. You can see Lori is having a hell of time during what I'll call the Hee Haw Mardi Gras (I'm going to trademark that!) The weather got a bit chilly down south and the lines were long. Lori fell out of a van and at some point in the weekend, crunched Jenna's leg in a taxicab door...

Well, I drove past my high school today and found a pile of rubble in its place. Breakfast Drive just isn't the same with Catholic Central gone. The school has moved to a new multi-million dollar campus in Northville. I haven't seen it yet, but I hear it's absolutely gorgeous.
The dumpster is sitting in what used to be the main hall leading into the school. The trees in the picture were all inside courtyards at the school.

Well, I did some more research and found that, in fact, Internet Explorer is the culprit in regard to the problems with the new look of the site. It seems it cannot handle CSS very well at all. Hopefully when IE7 debuts this issue will be fixed. I'm not savvy enough to try a HTML hack to try to make it work, and I like the capabilities of using CSS with the blog. If you notice, the center column is resizeable to your window. That type of dynamic is too hard to give up. Again, I suggest using Firefox for your browsing needs!

Well, looks like I'll have to hit the drawing board on the look of the site again. Jenna doesn't like it very much, she says it looks too industrial. And as with all things truly evil in the world, Internet Explorer seems to hate the site also. Images aren't appearing and some buttons refuse to be clickable. If you haven't already, I suggest you download and use Firefox, the site looks great in that browser (in MY opinion)...

Comments are working again.

New look. I've been playing around with a new template and some colors. I'm sure I screwed up html somewhere because the comments do not seem to be working correctly. Anyway, let me know what you think.

Reagan perfectly expresses my reaction to returing to lovely Michigan weather. Sure it's below 20 degrees right now, but at least I won't get a sunburn like say, in Miami...
In other news, the site received quite a spike in visitors today, although I'm not sure who linked to me or what everyone is looking at. I'd guess it's the receipt from the bar in Miami (see below). Sitemeter's referral page is not working so I can't see the sites linking to me at the moment. Anyway, if you've been sent here, drop a comment and let me know who to thank!

I've been playing with the html on the site for a bit. If you've run into problems all should be fixed now. Took some Tylenol and going to bed.

So, the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is real. I thought I'd have something witty to write, but I've got nothing. On the other hand, the Torch of Friendship memorial is not lit. Most of the countries on the memorial aren't terribly friendly with us lately, so I guess it's apt. I wanted to take a photo of Ponce De Leon, the statue not the man (what a cool name, it just rolls off the tongue), but some fellow was sitting on it and he didn't look like he was planning on moving on anytime soon. I rode the Metrorail train back to the hotel as I've had my fill of walking for the next month. I'm going to call the front desk and see if they'll take me down in a cart to the lobby tomorrow. Now that I'm back on whimpering about my day, I do wish to point out I made the entire trek wearing $10 Kmart sandals that I fixed with Shoe Goo last week. Top that!

For those who doubt I would be (insert colorful word here) enough to walk from the airport to the beach, here are a few places I passed. The one on the left is an antiques store (their description, looked like a junkyard to me), and the one on the right, well, if you can't figure it out, I can't help you.

A few more shots from yesterday. I passed by Mango's Tropical Cafe and saw that their waitresses had to wear 'uniforms' that would make a Hooters girl blush. Fishnet and leopard print and not much covered up. I'm sure it was packed because they have a great brunch...
