Declan and Reagan enjoying flying kites in the backyard. We finally had a decent spring day and stayed outside until Reagan's kite got away. She was hysterical, so Declan and I mounted a rescue mission and found her kite on a roof across the block. We were able to retrieve the kite and save the day!

I found another photo I took at the abandoned property in Chesaning.

Part of an abandoned barn in Chesaning.

Last shots from the party. The kids cousins,
Shelby and Hadley enjoying cake and ice cream.
Brody giving the Sammy Sosa 'peace out' kiss.
Declan and Reagan freaking out over their new
playhouse. And finally, Declan showing obvious
excitement at another Buzz Lightyear toy.

Savor it!

Various shots from the birthday party.

What a difference a year makes. Reagan on her birthday at 2 years to the left and 1 year to the right.

The kids and my parents.

The birthday party gets off to a slow start for Declan.

Steyn: Will we stick our necks out for his faith?

Read Mark Steyn. That is all.

We're having Declan's and Reagan's birthday party here today. Should be crazy. I'll post some pics later on after everyone leaves.

Broken face update: Looking good. Mederma seems to be working nicely on the scar. If you ask Jenna, the best thing to happen is that I don't snore anymore. Can't explain how that happened, but apparently breaking my nose ending up aligning something else.

I rarely post anything political anymore, but I couldn't resist passing this along. Three anti-war activists were freed by special operations operators in Iraq yesterday. A fourth was found dead near a trash heap in Baghdad after being tortured and shot to death. The response from this Christain group? They sent a press release saying the captives were released. No mention of the actions of the military to rescue them. Sheesh. Read about it here.

Enjoying the wearing of the green. Blogger photos was down over the weekend and I wasn't able to post these until now. Gary, Lori, and Brody came down and celebrated with us on Friday. We had to cancel our adult St. Patrick's Day downtown after my injury. We also couldn't make it to our family's party on Saturday due to distance and the time the party started (hint hint).

When Irish eyes are broken, er smiling...

It's been one week since the incident and I seem to be healing quite nicely. I still have some swelling, and if you look closely, you can see a small cut on my nose.

I'm looking forward to finishing up the day in the office and enjoying St. Patrick's Day, which also happens to be my 5th anniversary.

So, hoist a pint and enjoy the day!

Hey, how bout a picture not of my busted face? Here's a photo taken in Saginaw from last week.

Monday, March 13, 2006

Well, here's the CT scan of my noggin. As you can see, it's a bit crunchy around my sinus bones. The doctor's medical term was that the area was 'dust'. On the plus side, I don't need any surgery for the damage. The trama was pretty blunt and didn't displace any bones. I may have to go back in a few months for some cosmetic work. We'll see how everything heals. I'm also getting my stitches out tomorrow. I'll have Jenna take an updated photo of me then and post it.

Well, here's the damage. It really looks worse than it feels. As Homer Simpson would say, "You're not pretty no more!" I have to see a specialist next week who will take a closer look and decide if any surgery will be necessary. Jenna has been an absolute saint, I don't know what I'd do without her. Well, it's ice, anti-inflamatories, and rest for me this weekend.

Postscript: Needless to say, if you're not getting paid to play hockey, you should probably wear a full mask or shield. I have a half shield sitting in my bag that would probably have prevented this.

What has 20 stitches, a broken nose, and (at least) 3 facial fractures? Pictures tomorrow.

Reagan is almost as pretty as her mother (and is making daddy's head hurt to think about the teen years). She's holding her new bunny which she loves. She also pronounces it - buuh-NEE.

Last shots from Autorama.
Orange seemed to be a very popular color among the enthusiasts.

More photos including a shot of the statue of Joe Louis.

And a few more.
