Christmas Conga

We had our last Christmas party of the year last night at my folks with my dad's side of the family. It was an energetic bunch. I may have been seeing things, but it seemed like there were about 50 kids between the ages of 2-10.

Santa Baby

Declan and Reagan may be the next big brother-sister singing duo. I hope they have better luck than the Carpenters and the eating thing and the Osmonds with the weird are they brother and sister or are they married thing.

By my count, I've got over 210 photos and videos so far with one more big party left, and I haven't even begun to pull clips from the Christmas morning video. Gonna be a busy week.

Christmas in Attica

The inmates were running things, but we're talking about the town, not the prison. Although Noah did have his way with a doll...

West Nile Virus Protection Pack

We had a white elephant gift exchange at one of our Christmas parties and my cousin's wife picked out the gift I put in.

Two Down, One to Go

Whew! Two parties down and one to go to complete the Christmas holiday. We spent the 23rd and Christmas Eve with my mom's side of the family. Yesterday we headed over to Jenna's parents, and this Saturday, we're back at my folks for my dad's side. We've had a great Christmas so far. It's Owen's first Christmas and Grandma got her kung-fu movies! Jenna and the kids got to hold Owen. The last photo is Reagan putting a playdoh earring on me.

SNL Christmas Gift

Merry Christmas! Here's a video from SNL the other week. Not safe for work (or turn down the sound).

Photos From the Christmas Concert

Here are some shots of the kids at the concert. After they were finished singing, they went back to the classroom to receive a gift from a Wise Man that was passing through on his way to see Baby Jesus.

Owen's Home!

Owen came home from the hospital yesterday! I stopped by to drop off some extra Christmas lights and was able to get some video and a photo of the little guy.

World - Meet Owen Matthew!

We went and visited Gary and Lori to meet their new boy, Owen Matthew, today. He's adorable and looks like daddy. Lori is doing well and they can't wait to get Owen home. He delivered via C-section and gulped down some amniotic fluid, so the doctor is having him watched for the first 48 hours to make sure he gets all the attention he needs. Gary and Lori are looking forward to getting him home to meet his big brother, Brody, hopefully on Sunday.

The Weather Outside is Frightful

Well, being in Michigan we have come to love and/or hate the weather. Below is my Weather Underground page and as you can see there is a Record Statement - that's for the record high temp we had yesterday. And you can also see the Winter Storm Watch for tomorrow. After getting up to 67 degrees yesterday, they are now forcasting ice tonight and 5-8 inches of snow tomorrow. Lovely.

The Little Lights Are Not Twinkling...

Arthur: The little lights are not twinkling.

Clark: I know, Art, thanks for noticing...

Christmas Tree Time

We headed over to Mutch's Christmas Tree Farm to get our tree on Sunday. We wandered around for about 2 hours before finally finding one we liked. They have got a huge farm and many different types of trees. We decided on a Blue Spruce because the needles are really sharp and would annoy me when I was putting on the lights.IMG_8846IMG_8850

The Cousins

We went to Jenna's brother's house to celebrate Thanksgiving. Jenna made her yummy pizza dip and I tried out a new recipe for stuffing. It was a spinach-artichoke stuffing and everyone said they liked it. I think if I do it again, I'd go with about half as much artichoke as called for, it seemed a bit salty to me.

Reagan's First Trip to the Salon

Wow, was last week busy! We had a lot going on with Thanksgiving, haircuts, decorating the house, killing a tree for Christmas...whew!

Reagan had her first trip to the salon for a big girl haircut last week. She did great and looks so cute with her new 'do.

She really enjoyed it more than she's showing.

I also took some video of her while we were there.

Little Lions Fans

Well, even the kids wearing my hat couldn't help the Lions (again). I figure I'll get them hooked early so they can live with the same frustration I have with the Motor City Kitties.

Pizza Boy

Delivery or Digiorno?

Declan had a field trip with his class to the pizza parlor today. They made their own pizzas and were able to watch them run through the oven.

Declan's Show

Here's a montage of Declan's photos I made last year also. The song is 'Haunted' by Sinead O'Connor and Shane MacGowan from the Pogues. The song is probably best known from the movie 'Sid & Nancy'.

Zach, the Wonder Dog

I was out with the arson investigator for the State Police yesterday. We were investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a property in the area. The MSP brought out Zach, one of their specially trained German Shepherds. Here he is in action. The detective/sergeant also got into the act smelling for a specific hydrocarbon scent that would indicate an accelerent was used to start the fire.

How's This For a Buddy Film?

Reagan's Slide Show Video

I made this video last year and just thought to dig it up and post it. The song is 'Heaven' by Live. I first heard the song just after we found out Jenna was pregnant.

Belated Happy Birthday to the Marines

Wow, I've missed a few things this week. My dad will like this.

Veteran's Day

I was busy over the weekend and totally forgot to post something about Veteran's Day. We all owe a big thanks to all of those who have put on a uniform and served our country.

The Election is Over

And I for one welcome our new Democratic overlords...

Tuesday, November 07, 2006

Vote Today!

Get out and vote today! And remember, my darling children want you to vote Republican! They'd like to remind you that as a family of 4 making between $50-$75k a year, getting rid of tax cuts would increase our tax burden from approximately $1300 to over $3300 a year! By the way, I'm predicting (and this is just a little voice in my head) that the Dems pick up 12 house seats and 3 senate seats leaving the GOP in control of both houses.

Google Search and It's Implications

I can check the location of visitors to the blog and can also see how each person gets here. Some of the ways people reach Lapeer Living is humorous. A recent visitor searched Google for 'missing contractors' and found my site. The funny thing is that it refers to a post I made last year. Some terrorists posed a photo of a GI Joe doll as part of a kidnap video. I put together a post with of my own. The picture I included follows.

John Kerry Earns 4th Purple Heart

-Dateline: Washington. John Kerry was awarded his 4th Purple Heart medal after shooting himself in the foot this past week. Kerry's description of troops in Iraq as too dumb to end up anywhere else ruffled some feathers. He apologized by saying everyone was too stupid to understand what he was originally trying to say. Soldiers from Iraq got their crayons together and put together this message for Mr. Kerry.

Halloween, Parting Shot

Reagan and I enjoying the last moments of Halloween 2006. She was as tired as she looks. I'm already looking forward to next year. We have a new design in mind. Anyone know a corn farmer? We're going to need a truckload of corn stalks to pull it off...

Red Right Hand

Here a video taken with my digital camera of the garage and yard for Halloween. In the background you can hear Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds "Red Right Hand" playing (well, if you can get past the kids screaming).

Halloween, Part 2

Some shots of the decor for the night. Big Elmo and Little Elmo were among the many visitors we had. Jenna's parents passed out candy with the grandkids all night.

Halloween 2006

Here are a bunch of shots taken this evening. Everyone had a great time. We received many compliments on the haunting decorations. We have big plans already for next year.

300, Take 2

Here is the official trailer that is now appearing in theatres.

Now I'm Part of the Problem

I forgot to mention I was appointed by unanimous consent of the city commission to the zoning board of appeals. So begins my foray into government...I hope to have a more fruitful tenure than Homer did as garbage collector.
