Quick update from Miami. I'll have my new laptop configured and ready to go Thursday. I have some photos I'm ready to post including some from the Miami Ink tatoo shop seen on TLC. More to come soon!

Well, looks like we didn't get to Ireland fast enough to see the family pub. On the bright side it looks like it was used as a location in a motion picture.

Some photos are just too precious to be allowed to sit at the back of a photo album. Although the picture is at my old house, and the person is wearing my sweet fishy Hawaiian shirt, rest assured that is my brother Gary.

Sign #1,576,907 that the Apocalypse is upon us. Developers change project for fear of upsetting the faeries. Tinkerbelle type faeries.

Well, looks like you can stop purchasing cough medicine:

Recent studies have suggested that cough syrup usually containing the
cough suppressant dextromethorphan and the expectorant guaifenesin works no
better than sugar water.

Here's a shot of Declan, Reagan, and their cousin, Hadley, watching me play hockey this evening.

Well, the thumbnail is somehow corrupted. If you click you'll get the full picture as intended. The photo was taken with a camera phone.

A shot of the famous covered bridge in Frankenmuth.

We hit Frankenmuth this afternoon and ate lunch at the Black Forest Brewery. We took the kids over to the Riverwalk, but unbeknownst to us, they got rid of the kids indoor play area. We ended up walking around a bit. We headed over to the Frankenmuth Brewery and picked up a growler of their excellent Hefewiesen.

As per normal Michigan weather, we were expecting up to 8 inches of snow, but we received about an inch of ice and only 2 inches of snow over it. Very heavy snow too. We're heading up to Frankenmuth (Michigan's little Bavaria) for the day to meet my brother and his family.

Alexander the Great scores one of the most amazing goals in NHL history.

And it's gone again (see below). We do have
a winter storm that's supposed to hit tonight
with up to 7 inches of snow. Ah, Michigan

Woo hoo! I checked Google Adsense and I've made almost $5 in the past year. By this time next year I may have a sweet check for $10 in the mail!

Well, after a few relatively mild weeks, winter returned to Michigan overnight. It looks like we ended up with only about 4 inches of new snow, but after all the rain we've had it seems like a lot.

In the tub with bubble horns.
(I left the red-eye in for the
full devil effect)

As I mentioned before, I tendered my resignation last week and begin work with a
new company at the end of the month. I'm curious if anyone's management is as wierd
as mine is. They never made an announcement, even to my own group, that I was
leaving. We had a policy meeting last week and there was an open seat and a binder
with my name on it. Some of my associates asked where I was and the answer they got
was a shrug from the state management. I don't understand why they treat a
resignation that way. Like I said, wierd.

Oh, the paparazzi are soooo tiring....

Declan heard they were casting for a new
Superman movie...

Wednesday, January 11, 2006

Well, I formally tendered my resignation to my company today. I've accepted a position with another company doing nearly the same type of work with some notable differences I won't bother to go into here. I leave for orientation in Miami, FL on the 29th for two weeks. I'm pretty excited about this new opportunity.

Declan and Reagan geared up to go exploring in the house. They had to put on their boots, goggles, backpacks, and flashlights

Well, I had to return the DVD recorder because it was making more coasters than DVDs. I was able to get two discs made, and have 2002-2004 of my mini-dv tapes on DVD now. I kept a look out and was able to find a Lite-on deck that had pretty good reviews in the forums. I purchased it from Radioshack at a clearance price and I also have a $50 rebate. This one was able to format the first disc in a few seconds. I've got it set up to tape Firefly and BSG tonight. We'll see how it goes.

I ran across this sign while passing through Brown City today and had to stop to get a shot. It claims Brown City is the birthplace of the motorhome. I'll have to have my research department check this out for veracity. And by research department, I mean my brother Gary, who will know if it's true or not.

Happy New Year!

Lapeer Living is officially one year old. I started this site sitting in my car last year. It's fun to put together and gives a chance for me to share my photos with everyone. I may even purchase a book or magazine about photography and learn how to take photos for real... Well, I hope you keep on visiting! I predict the chance of the blog being on CNN again as slim and none, and slim just left town.

At right is a shot of Declan and Reagan enjoying some grapes and juice this afternoon.
